Joy or Misery of Your Calling
After much prayer, communication with the Lord and study of the Word; you will find your calling.  Each of us has a call to labor for the Master.
All callings are not as visible as others.  Examples:  Ministers are upfront-visible; a homemaker and Godly mother are not as visible to all, but a calling just the same (she's the first minister her children ever hear).
Great joy comes from knowing exactly what your call is.  When we start to seek recognition for the call from anyone but the Father we open ourselves up to miser.  When we start to feel misery in all we do it's usually one of two reasons.  One is we have stepped out of our call (1 Cor. 7:20 states "Let each one remain in the same calling which he was called").  If we begin to allow people to pressure us into "working for the Lord" we must, regardless of who is pressuring, check our spirits to see if it's what God wants for us.  Yes- there maybe openings in the church that needs to be filled but fill it with a person who is not called to it and everyone will soon become miserable.  Some even backslide because of being outside their call.
Some say you're being "super spiritual" to pray about a position in the church, but we need to be super spiritual (which really means wanting the perfect will of God for your life).  Every position (yes- even the janitorial position) needs to have the "called person" in it.  Without the right person it brings total misery to all.
The second reason misery comes is we are in the right calling but doing it for man and not God.  We begin to start pleasing man rather than God.  When we begin to seek praise and recognition from man and don't get it; self-pity sets in and brings misery.  We must seek God' approval first and foremost.  His approval is all we need and must learn to seek His pleasure in us.  If we don't keep the reason why we do what we do in check (stay in our call) we risk stumbling in our walk.  2 Peter 1:10 states "Therefore brethren, be even more diligent to make your call and election sure, for if you do these things you will never stumble:.
Joy of your calling only comes from knowing that you know what you are called to do for the Master.  Nothing else will satisfy your soul.  If we seek the Master's stamp of approval only, we'll walk in joy and gladness.  People will not necessarily understand why you say no to what they ask of you because most are only interested in filling a position not your obedience to the Master.  Give your answer in love and take their disapproval to the Master and leave it there.  Don't carry the guilt they may lay on you with you-- it's not the burden the Lord has given you.  If we walk only in the calling we know He has given us we'll walk in fullness of joy!
If we press into the calling with all our might it will be so joyful and peaceful!
Never let people pleasing enter into your call!
Please on the Master where the joy is!
